2027 San Diego Beach Sprints
March 18-19, 2027

Registration opens November 16th, 2026

Beach Sprints is a dynamic and exciting form of coastal rowing. Athletes begin the race on the sand, run to their boat, complete a 250 meter slalom course, turn around a buoy, row 250 meters back, and finish with a final sprint to the finish line button on the sand.

The 2027 San Diego Crew Classic will feature:
Youth: Mixed 2x
Masters: Mixed 2x
Open: Men’s 1x, Women’s 1x, and Mixed 2x

Up to the top 16 athletes participating in each of the open categories will be assigned to a relay team, seeded based on Thursday final results. The final relay will take place on Friday, March 19th, 2027.

No equipment is needed to race a Beach Sprints event, boats and oars will be provided (you are welcome to use your own oars). There will be a workshop to familiarize yourself with the sport and the equipment on Wednesday, March 17th, 2027 9am-3pm at San Diego Rowing Club: 1220 El Carmel, San Diego, CA 92109.

Location

Beach Sprints will take place on the Northern end of Crown Point Park on Mission Bay. There will be two courses with simultaneous racing.

Fees

Entry Fees:

The entry fees are due at the time the entry is submitted at RegattaCentral for each boat entered in each event.

  • $150 per 1x Early Registration, $200 afterwards

  • $300 per 2x Early Registration, $350 afterwards

Late Entry and Scratch Penalties

  • EARLY vs. STANDARD ENTRY:Registrations received before January 13, 2027 will receive the early registration rate. Standard registration rates will apply to entries received between January 14-March 2, 2027.
  • SCRATCH PENALTIES: Failure to scratch an entry by March 2nd will jeopardize future entries and other entries in the regatta from the same program. Please submit all scratches by e-mail to bobbie@crewclassic.org
  • REFUNDS: There are no refunds.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ADDING OR EDITING A LINEUP

  1. Go to www.regattacentral.com and Login
  2. Locate the ‘Regatta Calendar & Entries’ box on the left-hand side of the page. Click the ‘my entries’ located under the San Diego Crew Classic
  3. Click the ‘edit’ link to the right of the entry
  4. Select an athlete for each seat. Note: Start typing a name to search your team’s roster. If the athlete is not found, you can create a new record.
  5. When the line-up is complete, click the ‘Save’ button
